Fancy Guppies

This is a picture of a female fancy guppy.

This is a picture of a female fancy guppy. It is one of 3 types of fish that I own. Fancy guppies are livebearers, meaning they have free swimming babies at birth instead of laying eggs. The males and females are easy to distinguish. The males have larger and more colorful tails. The females, like the one shown above, have short tails and a black spot on their stomach called a "gravid" spot. They are fascinating fish to watch and learn about.
