The Queen's Reception
Picture of new Trail Maids at Queen's Reception

Once the court has been chosen, a reception honoring the new Trail Maids is held. The purpose of the Queen's Reception is to formally introduce the court, present the girls with their "color" and announce the Queen and her first and second-lady-in-waiting for the year. As each girl is introduced, they are given a rose with a ribbon of a certain color. The color of the ribbon they receive is the color dress they will wear for the year. The five dress colors are blue, green, peach, lavender and yellow with the queen wearing pink. During the interview process the girls are asked to provide their top 3 choices for their dress color. In a perfect world every girl would receive their top choice but since that is impossible, the girls are asked for those two alternate colors.
