Where The Heart Is is about a 17 year old girl, Novalee, who is pregnant and traveling cross country with her boyfriend. She goes in Wal-Mart to retrieve more shoes, but when she comes out he has left her. Novalee spends the next few weeks she spends in Wal-mart trying to make it. She delivers her baby, Americus, and becomes an instant celebrity. Where The Hert Is shows the courage and hardships a single mother, with everything against her, must go through.

This movie stars Natalie Portman as Novalee, Ashley Judd as Lexie, Stockard Channing as Thelma or "Sister", and Joan Cusack as Ruth.
