Through out the year, Girl Scouts work towards earning patches. They can earn these patches by doing various activites such as exploring their environment, making a new friend, or volunteering. In order to earn a patch, the Girl Scout has to meet atleast four of the set requirments for that patch.

Each year, they can earn up to 12 different patches. Some patches are harder than others to get. Girl Scouts can also earn patches by attending some Girl Scout activities such as the Girl Scout 'World Thinking Day'. Girl Scouts also get a patch when they sale Girl Scout cookies (Cookie Patch) or Girl Scout nuts (Nut Patch).
