"The above picture is of a female duck, which is called a "hen". The male duck is called a drake they are very beautiful as well! As a kid growing up we had a small pond in our front yard due to a flooded lawn. The ducks and their ducklings would come up in the lawn from the channel and we would go out with bread and feed them until our dogs chased them away. At one point we had a pet duck, we named him Duffy. We fed him until he was strong enough to make it on his own, what a fun experience for us."
