"Tunas are very fast swimmers. Tunas have been clocked as fast at 48 mph. There are many ways to identify a tuna fish. Unlike most fish species, which have white flesh, the flesh of tuna is pink to dark red. This pink to darkened red color is caused by the tunas muscle tissue. Their muscle tissue contains greater quantities of mysoglobin, an oxygen-binding molecule, than the muscle tissue of most other fish species. The tunas usually swimming in schools found close or in mixed in with schools of dolphin.". |
