George Washington was known as the father of the United States. He was the only president to be inaugurated in two cities: New York and Philadelphia. He was commissioned a lieutenant colonel at the age of 22, and fought in the French and Indian War. Through his term as president, he showed he had a gift for leadership and that made him famous throughout the colonies and a great president.
