CINQUE TERRE
CINQUE TERRE
This is a picture of the boat lined coast of the Cinque Terre. The picture was taken by my father in June 2004.

If you love the beach, the Cinque Terre is the perfect place to visit. The word "Cinque Terre"stands for the "five fingers,"or a section of five penensulas that jut out into the Mediterranean Sea. The inlet of each pennensula is the home of a town. We stayed in Rio Majiore where we enjoyed great seafood that was caught literally feet from the restaurant where we ate. My favorite where the little tiny octopi and the fish (heads included!).

We also visited another inlet town, Santa Rosa, where we layed out on big black stones in the sun on the local beach. There was no sand, but the smooth black stones that lined the beach were just as beautiful. Also while in Santa Rosa, we ate at a local beachside pizzaria under big green umbrellas. The pizza was far lighter than its American counterpart, but was just as delicious.

Also, when visiting the Cinque Terre, be sure to grab a bottle of Lemoncello. This sweet lemon liquer is great in desserts or just to sip on after a meal.
