Verdi give his first performance at Antonio Barezzi`s home in 1830. He then became Barezzi`s daughter`s music teacher nd fell madly in love with her. Verdi and Margherita were married in 1836 and had two children.

Verdi`s first opera was Oberto. While working on his second opera, Un Giorno Di Regno,his wife and children died and he claimed he would give up music forever.

Merelli persuaded Verdi to compose Nabucco in 1842, which made him famous.

Verdi also wrote Rigoletto, one of his greatest works, and to name a few others, Il Travatore, La Triviata, Don Carlos, and Aida.
